The Occoneechee Council Range and Target Activities Committee has recently added three trainings to Black Pug. Please pass these dates along to the other leaders in your units to ensure the information is getting to as many leaders as possible.
- NRA Rifle Courses (Basics of Rifle Shooting, Basic Instructor Training, and Rifle Instructor)
- 21 to 23 February 2025 at Camp Durant – Cabins and Meals Provided
- Maximum Class Size = 10 participants

- NRA Range Safety Officer
- 29 March 2025 at Camp Reeves Admin Building
- Maximum Class Size = 20 participants

- BSA Rangemaster Training
- 30 March 2025 at Camp Durant
- Register
As a reminder – If your Troop/Crew/Ship wants to have a rifle activity, you need NRA Rifle Instructors and a NRA Range Safety Officer. If you want to be a Rifle Merit Badge Counselor, you need to be a NRA Rifle Instructor. To run an Archery Open Shoot activity, you need a BSA Rangemaster.
Cub Scout Leaders – Our program leads are always looking for BSA Rangemasters to help with Range Activities at Cuboree, Spookoree, Cub Day Camps, and other District Cub Activities. This is the training needed to run archery ranges, BB Gun ranges, Sling Shot ranges, and other throwing sport ranges.
